If you have a change to your personal details, such as address or telephone, please inform our receptionist as soon as you can as we may be trying to get in contact with you. It is also helpful if you could inform us when you get a new Medicare or Pension Card and we can update our system with your new details.
Highland Medical have a range of appointment times available. If you have a few issues you wish to discuss with your doctor, please let us know if you require a longer appointment slot.
Our Doctors are happy to come to you for a home visit if your symptoms require it. Please inform us as early in the day as possible to allow us to schedule your home visit into our day (this may be dependent on our booked schedule that day). We also have an after hours service that may be able to assist.
Controlling your personal information
Highland Medical Centre will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission in writing or are required by law to do so. We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting if you tell us that you wish this to happen.
If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to or email us as soon as possible. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.

Highland Medical Centre has Free WIFI available for you to log into while you are seated in our waiting room, ask the receptionist for the login details as they change on a regular basis.
We have a TV in our waiting room showing today's events and a Tonic TV showing health tips, patient journeys through health events and topical health stories.

While our doctors are happy to talk with you on the telephone while they are not consulting, it may be necessary for our receptionist to take a message and the doctor may call you later in the day or when he/she can.
While we welcome feedback and communication, email is not used in our practice. If you need to contact us, please phone or write to us.
Complaints & Feedback
We value any feedback or complaints you may have about our service. Please either complete the Practice Complaints Form or telephone or write to the Practice Manager. We will acknowledge receipt of your complaint or feed-back and we will commence a formal investigation. We will endeavour to write to you with the outcome of the complaint within 10 working days. Please note, as mentioned above, we do not use email as a way of communicating.
We also have a suggestion box on the premises and welcome any views or opinions you may have on how we can improve our service.
We conduct a Patient Survey on a regular basis and you may be asked to complete a questionnaire. We welcome any feedback you may provide to us as this helps us to further develop our practice to meet your needs.
Any developments we make through patient feedback will be advertised on our patient notice boards, located within the waiting room.
We are able to administer all childhood vaccinations at 2,4,6,12,18 months & 4 years. Madeley Health Pharmacy across from us, have a wide range of travel vaccinations available. Please consult with your doctor who will advise you what your vaccination requirements are. Flu season is always a big event, if you require a flu vaccination during the flu season, please make an appointment with your doctor. A number of patients are able to get a free vaccination, however some may have to pay a fee if you are not eligible to receive a free vaccine from the government.
Highland Medical Centre will receive your test results electronically within 7 days from the laboratory, and these are managed by your doctor. Please contact the receptionist 7 days after your test has been done to obtain your results.
The practice runs a Bowel Screening Service. If you feel you require this service, please discuss this with your doctor at your next consultation.
Highland Medical Centre has liquid Nitrogen on the premises which we use for cryotherapy. If you require this service, please discuss it with your doctor at your next consultation.
Pathology Collection Service
Australian Clinical Labs have a collection suite located in our practice. Their operating times are 07:30 – 16:00 (lunchbreak 12-00 to 1-00pm).
Guardian Exercise Rehabilitation are a team of exercise physiologists who specialise in the physical rehabilitation of patients with injuries. The service includes both workers compensation & motor vehicle accident injuries. All exercise physiologists are mobile and the programmes are undertaken at a venue convenient to you and funded by the relevant insurer (where applicable).
Highland Medical doctors have gained much knowledge and experience in this field and we have a fully equipped treatment room with Practice Nurses to assist with this service. There may be an additional charge for some expensive dressings and other medical supplies which are not covered under Medicare, however we will be able to provide you with a quote prior to your treatment. Please discuss this with the Doctor or Practice Nurse.
Where you are having tests/services done at regular intervals (i.e. Pap Smears, Diabetic Assessment etc) we may add you to our recall system. This means the practice will send you a reminder letter informing you when you are next due to see your doctor or nurse. Please inform the receptionist if you do not wish to receive any further reminder letters and we will remove you from our recall system.
Highland Medical Centre doctors are able to provide a wide range of medicals, including: driving, pre-employment, rehabilitation, return to work, fitness to work etc. Most medicals are not covered under the Medicare scheme and therefore, there will be a charge to you. Our receptionist will be able to advise you of any fees relating to this service prior to your appointment. However it is important to inform the receptionist you are consulting with your doctor for a medical examination prior to the appointment time to enable us to allocate you the appropriate time required.
Highland Medical doctors and nurses are able to design a specific care plan with your needs in mind, for many conditions such as asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis & arthritis to name a few. You may be eligible for a subsidised referral to an allied health professional to support your care plan. However please discuss this option with your doctor who will provide you with the referral letters you will require.
At Highland Medical, we are able to offer a number of health assessments:
Over 75 Years
This can be an annual assessment and checks may include: lifestyle assessment, medication review, nutrition advice, exercise and mobility assessment and home safety along with any care arrangements in place.
Women’s Health Assessments
This may include Pap smear screening, breast examination & mammography referral, contraception (including: Mirena, IUCD, Implanon), family planning and fertility counselling, management of menopause and disease prevention.
This may include prostate & bowel screening, family planning, sexual health, lifestyle & obesity management and disease prevention.
If you require a follow up referral for a specialist service, we may be able to take this request over the telephone, however this can only be done if your previous referral was written at Highland Medical Centre. It is always better to make an appointment with your doctor to have a follow up referral done. There may be an administration fee for this service.
If you require a repeat prescription for your medication, we may be able to take this request over the telephone, however this can only be done if your previous prescription was done at Highland Medical Centre. It is always better to make an appointment with your doctor to have a prescription done as the doctor may require to undertake further tests or may require personal information from you prior to providing you with a new prescription. There may be an administration fee for this service.
